About the Blog

On this blog, letters and e-mails from Elder Eastwood, who’s currently a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will be shared.  He can write home and to friends only on Preparation Days (P-Days), which is on every Monday.  He occasionally writes short talks mid-week, and mails it to us.  Some of the talks may also be shared on this blog .  He is serving in the Iowa Des Moines Mission for the next 2 years.  He reported to the MTC (Missionary Training Center) in Provo, Utah on July 17, 2013.  This blog is managed by his mother.

About Me

First and foremost, I like to have fun. Good, clean fun.  A game of water polo in the surf? I’m there.  A 6-day hike to summit a tall peak?  Any time.  A 6-hour game of monopoly with my sister?  Well…maybe if we get to do those other things right after.  I met my first love at the age of 5 when my father introduced me to golf.  One swing and I knew it.  This was love.  Sadly, it was a pretty one-sided relationship and even though I played through high school, I never could break my 7-8 handicap.  I met my second love in high school: water polo.  I love the physicality and the toughness it takes to play.  Ever since then, I have been obsessed with staying fit and am a regular at the gym, do P90X, run, bike, and do a lot of manual labor.  I am still playing water polo, but now on BYU’s club team in Provo, Utah.  My dad’s side of the family is from Wyoming and Utah and our cowboy/pioneer roots run deep (I LOVE country music).  My mother’s side of the family is from Japan (primarily Osaka and Fukuoka) and I had the opportunity to spend time attending part of elementary school there.  I have a special place in my heart for the Japanese people and culture. I am not currently sure what I want to study and do as my career, but it seems to be narrowing down to Public Relations or Broadcasting.  I will probably have a better idea after I return from my mission.  I have been called to serve in the Des Moines, Iowa mission.  I report to the MTC on July 3rd, 2013 and will serve for two years.”About Me” is what Elder Eastwood wrote about himself on Mormon.org before he left on his mission.  For his “Why I am a Mormon” and “How I live my faith” messages, please click on JC Eastwood (about.me) at the bottom of this blog’s homepage.

    Hi JC
I am with the San Bernardino Pioneer and Historical Society. I’d like to add a link to your website for people researching families at the pioneer cemetery.
Can you please give me your site info?

      Hello, Joe.

I apologize for my late reply. This blog is being updated by me using email he sends home weekly. JC has no access to view this blog, so he will not be able to reply to you. JC was using our family mac account for the website for the pioneers he created for his Eagle project, but since we no longer have the account, we need to upload it elsewhere for him. We will let you know the new website information as soon as we set it up again.

      Thank you for contacting us!
